Imperfect woman but Life-long leader, encourager, entrepreneur, certified life purpose coach, and business owner.
I'm Amy, nice to meet you!
Just a down to earth farm girl that has always had a penchant for the fancier things in life
This small town girl headed to the big city of Chicago for college at the age of 18. I went on to work out of the Chicago Apparel Center as a traveling rep for an LA fashion designer, Carole Little, allowing me to travel to NYC, CA and Midwest repping her clothing line. I ultimately left this traveling career after the birth of my first son.
After having my 1st baby, my desire peered its head to pursue my passions as a go-getter, self-starter entrepreneur. I convinced a friend to begin a faux finishing business with me as brand new moms in downtown Chicago (self-taught). Business continued for 10 years with restaurants, model & residential homes, area businesses as our clients, along with two more children added.
I dove in heart first and that catapulted me into living a life of greater purpose; truly embracing the way I was designed from the get-go with God’s grace and direction as my compass. After getting reacquainted with my faith I realized that God had placed a calling on my life and have not been able to shake it since.
I moved to Nashville in 2005 (an answered prayer) and getting out my comfort zone was expanded! I stepped out with faithful trepidation and began leading a women’s group "Flourishing Friends of Faith” around my dining table with seven ladies. We expanded and relocated to our local Y with over 40 ladies; deeper connection & community outreach was the mission.
This was the springboard for me to get certified as a Life Purpose Coach in order to coach women 1:1.
LET'S WORK TOGETHER
Life coaching at this time was not popular and I felt a little inhibited saying I was one as I didn’t feel like an expert on life by any means but I had a heart to live fully the way I was meant to. I was just not content to whittle my days without difference making purpose.
At this time, I also hosted an internet radio show (pre-podcast era) ’DesignHer Living’ for one year interviewing authors, entrepreneurs, coaches, designers, etc. I also spoke at a few women’s events and began writing my column by the same name above for two local magazines, focusing on women’s topics of the heart.
After five years leading the women's group God called me to rest, reflect, and recharge awhile. Little did I know, He was getting me refreshed for my NEXT and orchestrating an opportunity for a larger territory with ample opportunities to continue weaving my common thread into a new season of design.
Once refreshed I felt the tug of' beginning again' to knock on my heart. Albeit a little begrudgingly, I said yes to my parents and joined them part-time in their custom upholstery design business. Realizing I was in my sweet spot again this once part-time bosses daughter led to Boss-lady and Co-Owner with my oldest brother, with now a decade plus under my belt. All my dots were connected doing what I loved; building relationships with clients, my creative team, and staff leading design projects serving both residential and celebrity clientele, restaurants, and hotels to successful completion throughout Middle TN.
Although still a Co-Owner, my day-to-day role has ceased due to me and my hubby of 35 years desiring a retirement that doesn't always keep us close to home; and mostly due to our loving to spend time with our three adult kiddos who are living in three different states.
Semi-retirement may have catapulted me out of the sweet spot I had grown accustomed to but God knew that I would use my own struggle with retirement for good, faithfully pivot, step into my NEXT, and bring other women like you along.
